Senior students of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program at the Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Educational Sciences conducted the EDU 421: History of Turkish Education course on 26 November 2025 at the historic Çapa Science High School building, also known as Darülmuallimin, to gain an on-site perspective of educational history.
The field trip, led by Assist. Prof. Nagehan Pakdamar Tüzgen, provided students with the opportunity to explore early Republican-era Turkish education firsthand. Throughout the visit, students examined archival documents, original learning spaces, and the institutional developments that highlight the significant role Darülmuallimin played from the Ottoman period to the early Republic.
The trip continued with brainstorming activities in which students compared Ottoman educational structures with contemporary education models. This process enriched the course content by enabling students to relate historical knowledge to modern educational perspectives.
