The online seminar titled “The Essentials of Group Counseling”, organized by the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling at our University, was held on Thursday, May 15, 2025. The event featured a keynote presentation by Dr. Ed Jacobs from the Department of Counseling at West Virginia University and was moderated by our faculty member Prof. Sefa Bulut and master student Niyazi Cem Ödemiş.
With over 30 years of experience in the field of group counseling, Dr. Jacobs addressed key topics such as the theoretical framework of group processes, implementation strategies, and effective leadership skills. The presentation attracted great interest from participants thanks to its rich academic content and practical examples.
The seminar brought together approximately 70 academics and graduate/doctoral students from both Türkiye and various international universities. During the Q&A session following the presentation, participants had the opportunity to directly engage with Dr. Jacobs by asking questions.
The event provided a valuable learning environment both theoretically and practically for professionals working in or interested in the field of group counseling.
