The project titled “Emerging Adulthood Among University Students: A Mixed-Methods Needs Analysis”, was prepared under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Nagehan Pakdamar Tüzgen, has been awarded funding under the Scientific Research Projects (BAP) program.

The project’s research team includes School of Education Research Assistant Dilara Maraba, Guidence and Psychological Counseling master’s student Semensa Sena Genç, and undergraduate students Melike Kartal and Fatma Zehra Sarıgeçili. The active involvement of graduate and undergraduate students in the research process also makes the project valuable in terms of providing young researchers with experience in scientific work.

The “emerging adulthood” period, which falls between adolescence and adulthood and is characterized by identity search, uncertainty, self-focus, and the exploration of possibilities, largely overlaps with the college years. The project aims to identify the developmental, psychological, and social needs of college students during this period. Through a mixed-methods design combining quantitative and qualitative methods, the project aims to conduct an in-depth examination of students’ experiences.

The findings are expected to contribute to the development of psychological counseling, guidance, and student support services offered at universities, as well as to the planning of intervention programs tailored to students’ needs.

We congratulate the project team and wish them success in their work.
