Within the scope of the Turkish Educational System and School Management course in the Guidance and Psychological Counseling program, our instructor Nagehan Pakdamar Tüzgen and students visited Palet Schools Çamlica campus, which was established as a member of New Turkey Education Foundation (YETEV). In the lights of Montessori approach, the school has a dynamic educational structure that reinforces children's sense of decision making, discovery and curiosity. During our trip, we were warmly welcomed by Palet Schools Çamlica Campus School Principal Yasin Topal and his team. After breakfast in the school cafeteria, accompanied by the pleasant view of Çamlica, we started to tour the school. We had the opportunity to observe the entire campus, especially the classrooms, ceramic workshop, kitchen workshop, creative drama area, prayer room and library. It was very interesting that each area was designed so that students would be young individuals who enjoyed learning. Then, we witnessed how students' skills and desires were supported with an innovative education vision in the Montessori kindergarten classroom. Here, we learned about the purposes and uses of specially designed sensory materials for many different age groups in areas such as language, cosmic, mathematics and geometry. In the last part of our visit, we had a fruitful conversation with school principal Yasin Topal about the education philosophy of Palet Schools, value-oriented education, social and emotional development practices, internship and training opportunities, and guidance & psychological counseling projects. We ended our visit by thanking Palet Schools Çamlica campus team for their valuable conversations, warm attitudes and gifts they prepared for us.
